My name is Ozoemena; most folk call me Ozo, but those who know me closely call me Tracy. I’m from Houston, TX and I come from humble beginnings… both literally and figuratively. I grew up on the north side of Houston and graduated from Humble High School before attending Sam Houston State University where our motto was: “The measure of a life is its service.”
From day one, I strove to emulate the motto via professional, philanthropic, and civic endeavors where I enacted change across campus. I was recognized by our National Pan-Hellenic Council with the “Nelson Mandela Living Legacy” award for my contributions to the campus community as an undergraduate student. As a Master’s student, I led our professional accounting honor society to achieve Gold Chapter, a distinction given to the top 5% of chapters within the international organization, before being selected to sit on the International Board of Directors for the global organization.
Who is O.T.?

Early Career:
I started my career as a Big 4 auditor in Washington, DC where I audited complex accounting transactions, financial models, and internal controls over financial reporting related to Federal loan and guarantee programs. As a Senior Associate, I supervised staff in executing over a dozen financial statement audits for a credit union regulator. In addition, I designed audit programs to address risks of material misstatements for while supervising and encouraging my teams.
In 2017, I pivoted from Big 4 audit to join the DC Public Charter School Board as School Finance Specialist where I was responsible for financial oversight of nearly $1.0B in public education funding managed by 60+ charter schools within Washington, DC. In collaboration with the School Performance Department, the Executive Leadership team, I reported to a Mayoral appointed Board of public officials regarding the performance of of the city’s 60+ local education agencies which served nearly 50,000 K-12 students. I managed statutory reporting, budget analysis, sector forecasting, and governance matters in addition to serving on two (2) District-wide task forces to address educational funding inequity which resulted in increased funding for marginalized and underfunding student sub-populations.
In 2021, I joined the largest global professional services firm in the world: Deloitte, as a Senior in the Accounting & Reporting Advisory function where I advised companies on technical accounting matters in addition to serving as a volunteer consultant in the firm’s pro-bono consulting program for local nonprofit organizations. In addition, I supported Diversity & Inclusion initiatives within the profession through my service as a volunteer on the local and regional board of the National Association of Black Accountants.
Community Engagement:
In my spare time, I enjoy connecting with members of creative, fitness, and intellectual circles. I’ve previously produced two podcasts for the Metropolitan D.C. chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants where I managed the production and full digital marketing campaigns. I also volunteer in local political action committees to provide insight as a Black & LGBTQ+ person.
